AL - Alcan reports that the aluminum producer is in talks with BHP Billiton about a possible deal with that Australian mining giant to try to fend off the hostile bid from Alcoa.

MDT - Medtronic upgraded from "market perform" to "outperform" by Piper Jaffray.

CEI - Crescent Real Estate Equities announced after the close Tuesday it agreed to be acquired by the real estate unit of investment bank Morgan Stanley for about $2.3 billion.

SPLS - Staples upgraded from "hold" to "buy" by Soleil.

TGT -
Target Corp posted higher quarterly earnings that beat estimates on higher quarterly revenue.
